Area employers to recruit at Jan. 30 job fair

Students looking to earn a little cash — and get some valuable experience — should attend the Part-Time Job Fair Jan. 30. January 25, 2013

The Career Development Center will host the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Red Barn. About 30 employers from across the city will attend the fair, looking for students to fill their part-time ranks. Some of the employers scheduled to attend include Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services; Apple, Inc.; Hyatt Regency Louisville; UPS; Volunteers of America; All About Kids Sports Center; YMCA and Gannett.

The response so far to the job fair from city employers has been positive and the roster is filling up faster than in previous years as more employers have jobs open, said Leslye Erickson, director of the Career Development Center.

“We may be starting to see the market turn a bit,” Erickson said.

There is limited space left at the fair, but on-campus employers who want to attend can contact Caitlyn Walsh at 852-6701, or go online. There is a $100 fee to participate as an on-campus employer.

The fair is only open to UofL students. Student who plan to attend should bring a resume if they have one. Casual or business casual attire is recommended.
