Catch Thunder over Louisville at the Cressman Center

NULL April 1, 2015

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Both the fireworks and the glass shop are ready to blow for the Cressman Center’s 9th annual Thunder Over Louisville watch party.

The University of Louisville’s Hite Art Institute presents “Fire & Art 9: Thunder at the Cressman” from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday, April 18, at UofL’s Cressman Center for Visual Arts, 100 E. Main St. at First Street.

In addition to the fireworks show, “Fire & Art” guests can see students at work in the center’s glass hot shop, watch family movies and more. This year, three UofL M.F.A. students will host a 12-hour pop-up art show that includes coloring book giveaways for kids.

Light refreshments are available and visitors can come and go to the waterfront for the Kentucky Derby Festival’s air show and other activities. When the fireworks begin, guests can catch the show from the top floor of the attached parking garage.

Tickets for “Fire & Art” are $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 5-12; children ages 4 and younger are free. A parking pass for the connected garage is $25. Space is limited so reservations are required. Proceeds from the event benefit UofL’s fine arts programs.
