Commencement will be May 11
More than 2,700 University of Louisville students are expected to graduate this semester and 1,700 of the soon-to-be graduates will take part in the university’s main commencement ceremonies May 11 at the KFC Yum! Center. May 6, 2013The schedule will be:
- 10 a.m. ‒ College of Arts and Sciences, School of Dentistry, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, School of Medicine, School of Music, School of Nursing, School of Public Health and Information Sciences and School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies
- 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – reception for all students and their families with UofL President James Ramsey
- 2 p.m. ‒ College of Business, College of Education and Human Development, Kent School of Social Work and J. B. Speed School of Engineering
Ramsey will preside at both ceremonies. Student speakers will be Louisville natives Kaila Washington (music) for the 10 a.m. ceremony and John Ryan Frazier (engineering) for the 2 p.m. ceremony.
UofL will confer honorary degrees on Howard Fineman at the 10 a.m. ceremony and on Henry V. Heuser Jr. at the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Fineman, a journalist and editorial director of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group, is a 1980 graduate of the law school and will speak to this year’s law graduates at a 5 p.m. convocation at The Brown Theatre, 315 W. Broadway. Heuser is president of the Henry Vogt Foundation and chair of UofL’s Board of Overseers.
Students and their guests should enter the KFC Yum! Center through the Main Street entrance. The arena is located on Main between Second and Third streets.
