Ekstrom display highlights Corn Island festival history
Letters, programs and other materials from the 30-year history of Louisville’s Corn Island Storytelling Festival are on display in Ekstrom Library. The exhibit is in the west wing glass cases across from the circulation desk. October 4, 2012The materials reflect the colorful history of Corn Island, which grew from a small gathering of friends to one of the nation’s largest storytelling festivals before it ended its run in 2007. They include testimonials and newspaper articles about the festival, as well as event programs, information about some of the storytellers, notes to event founder Lee Pennington and the history of the festival's namesake, the original settlement site of Louisville.
UofL is teaming with the festival’s organizers to revive its most popular event, a night of ghost stories, Oct. 12 in the Humanities Quadrangle.
