Future health care providers receive culturally sensitive training from UofL
December 12, 2018More than 600 future doctors, dentists, nurses and public health providers crammed into the Kentucky African-American History Center for training on caring for patients whose sexual orientation or cultural experiences are different from their own.
The University of Louisville's Office of Diversity and Inclusion hosted the training sessions for students at UofL and Spalding University, most of whom are in their first year of professional school.
"With the change in demographics and the change in our patient population we want to make sure that our professional students are equipped to provide the most comprehensive, culturally effective care possible," said Faye Jones, associate VP for Health Affairs.
