Honors Student Council seeking book, media donations for annual sale
February 23, 2016If you have an old book that needs a new home, the University of Louisville’s Honors Student Council would love to take it off your hands.
The books, music and other donated items will become part of the group’s annual Book and Media Sale (BAMS), which will be April 4-8 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) and April 9 (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) at the George J. Howe Red Barn. There will also be a Preview Night April 3 (5-9 p.m.). Tickets for the preview sale, which can be purchased at the door, are $10 for the public and $5 for students. “All profits from this sale will go directly to Camp Quality Kentuckiana to help give children living with cancer a chance to just be kids,” said Tasneem Karim, one of the vice presidents for philanthropy for the Honors Student Council. “In order to make this event happen, we need your help in the form of donations.” The Honors Student Council hopes to have more than 35,000 items available during the sale and raise $15,000, which will be used to fund children’s summer camp experiences. The following items will be accepted: books, CDs, DVDs, video games, records, comics and game systems. Donations are due by Friday, April 1. Community members wishing to donate books can drop them off at the drive-thru windows at the university’s two information centers. The North Center is at 1999 S. First St. (across from the School of Music). The West Center is at 2301 S. Third St. (next to Grawemeyer Hall). Donations also can be dropped off at the Etscorn Honors Center and at locations on the Health Sciences Center campus including the second-floor entrance of Kornhauser Library and lobby of the School of Dentistry. For more information about sale dates and donations, email HonorsBAMS@gmail.com or visit www.uoflhsc.com. Media inquiries should be directed to Luke Buckman at 502-852-4666.
