Jan. 25 event to showcase international fashion, dance
Fashion and dance from around the world will converge at the University of Louisville Jan. 25. January 22, 2013Students are hosting the 11th annual International Fashion Show at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Student Activities Center.
The event, one of the Student Activities Board’s longest running traditions, will feature more than 100 students modeling attire that represents different cultures, as well as some of the latest fashions from Blush Boutique, Evolve Consignments, General Eccentric, Urban Attic and more.
Students will also perform Vietnamese Lion dancing, belly dancing and Congolese dancing.
Music is selected by the participating groups and is played by and supplemented with music by DJ Prism.
Food for the event is provided by Ramsi’s Café on the World.
The event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board, Indian Student Association, Club Programming Committee, Student Government Association and Ramsi’s.
“The International Fashion Show has continued through the years because of its elegant and unique nature that affects students and community from all backgrounds,” said Elizabeth Hammond, SAB’s director of programming.
The event begins at 7 p.m. with food. The performance begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $5 and will be available at the door. UofL students,faculty and staff may purchase advanced tickets for $3 with a university ID though Jan. 23 at the front desk of the Student Activities Office (SAC W310).
Attendees should come “dressed to impress.”
