Men’s Final Four, Atlanta Dream team up for community service

Volunteer effort will aid the homeless and hungry April 3, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville will take part in an April 6 Atlanta-based community service project that includes the men’s NCAA Final Four basketball teams and the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Atlanta Dream.

Representatives from UofL, University of Michigan, Syracuse University, Wichita State University and Atlanta Dream—aided by Hands On Atlanta—will work with Lift Up Atlanta to sort and package clothing and supplies for homeless families.

Volunteers will work from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.and busses will shuttle workers to and from the volunteer site.

The project was conceived by UofL, the alma mater of Atlanta Dream player Angel McCoughtry. Louisville volunteers will wear Atlanta Dream T-shirts with McCoughtry’s name and number.
