Organizers hope culinary event will be a ‘big bang’
Hubble in the Highlands marks legacy of Edwin Hubble, raises funds for local school November 3, 2014LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Culinary delights will take center stage at an event that celebrates the legacy and birthday of former Louisville resident Edwin Hubble while raising funds for a science program at Bloom Elementary School.
Hubble in the Highlands is a Nov. 20 collaboration between Lilly’s Bistro and the University of Louisville’s Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium where a percent of all lunch and dinner sales at Lilly’s go toward bringing the Owsley Brown II Portable Planetarium to Bloom Elementary. The date is the 125th anniversary of Edwin Hubble’s birth.
Diners can choose specialty cocktails like the Cosmic Cosmopolitan, the Guiness Black Hole and Hubble’s Bubbles or culinary treats such as Lilly’s Crescent Moon Caramelized Onion Tart and Hanger Steak with Jedi Sauce and Death Star Gnocchi.
’Our imagination really started to run wild,” said Lilly’s owner and chef Kathy Cary. “This will be a fun event and it’s gratifying to know we’re doing something to help a school in our own neighborhood.”
Hours for Hubble in the Highlands will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner. Lilly’s is at 1147 Bardstown Road. Reservations can be made by calling 502-451-0447 but are not required.
