President’s address, faculty honors highlight State of the University Week
September 10, 2015Events honoring faculty will lead to President James Ramsey’s annual address to the UofL community during State of the University Week Sept. 14-17.

The president will present his State of the University address Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. in the Margaret Comstock Concert Hall, School of Music. A reception for the university community will follow the free, public address.
“We have much to be proud of at UofL,” President Ramsey said. “The State of the University address gives us a chance to reflect for a moment, to thank all those who’ve contributed to our success, and to look toward our future. And then it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work.”
Classes are canceled from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. to allow faculty, staff and students to attend the event.

Monday, Sept. 14 – New Faculty Reception
4:30-5:30 p.m., Second Floor Lobby, Abell Administration Center
Reception for all faculty members hired since October 1
Tuesday, Sept. 15 - Celebration of Faculty Excellence
6 p.m., Brown and Williamson Club, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
Ceremony to honor winners of:
- President’s Distinguished Faculty Awards (Outstanding Scholarship, Research and Creative Activity; Service; and Teaching)
- President’s Exemplary Multicultural Teaching Award
- New endowed chairs/professors
- Weber Awards
- New University Scholars and Distinguished University Scholars
- Faculty whose creative work has resulted in new patents and licenses
