Public invited to the 2016 Denny Crum Potato Soup Luncheon
February 23, 2016LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Most people know Denny Crum as the former University of Louisville men’s basketball coach; a position he held for more than 30 years. He was also a Basketball-Hall-of-Famer and a goodwill ambassador for the university.
But they may not know Denny Crum the cook. Now is their chance.
Crum will personally prepare his own recipe for potato soup at a Feb. 29 luncheon to benefit the Denny Crum Scholarship Fund at the University Club and Alumni Center, 200 East Brandeis Ave.
“I do most of the cooking at my house. My dad always cooked and my mom was a great cook. I enjoy it a lot,” Crum said. “My soup is terrific.”
Crum and former players Darrell Griffith and Milt Wagner will be available to sign autographs and mingle with attendees.
The Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation, Inc. awards scholarships to individuals who demonstrate leadership, community service and academic achievement. Crum said this year 100 students received $1,000 scholarships. The goal of the foundation is to raise $2 million in order to give that amount in perpetuity, he said.
The luncheon is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and include potato soup and a meet and greet. Additional food will be available for purchase. Click here to register.
