University of Louisville President James Ramsey kicked off State of the University week with a lecture about the state economy and how it’s affecting UofL.

Ramsey told about 200 faculty, staff and students in Horn Auditorium at the College of Business that Kentucky’s economy is rebounding.

The president also discussed the 21st Century University initiative, a university-wide look inward to determine how to best educate students in the future. It will require tough decisions about the future of academic and research programs as well as UofL’s overall structure and culture, he said.

Ramsey is expected to talk more about the 21st Century University in his State of the University address at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 11. The address will be in Comstock Hall, School of Music, and it will be streamed live on UofL Today.
