Share a ‘shelfie’ at the UofL Art Library’s interactive self-portrait exhibit

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The staff at the Margaret M. Bridwell Art Library at the University of Louisville doesn’t just want patrons to view its exhibit on self-portraits, they want guests to actually be part of it.

“Selfies in Art History” is on display at the art library through March 7. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, showcases examples of artists’ self-portraits spanning centuries, including images of Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh, Norman Rockwell and more. In addition, the library is hosting a social media “shelfie” contest in which guests can become a part of the display.

A “shelfie” is a selfie taken while holding your favorite book or standing in front of your favorite library shelf. Once taken, post the “shelfie” to the art library’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages and the images will be printed and displayed in “Selfies in Art History” for the last weeks of the exhibit.
