Student apprehended after displaying gun at CEHD

A student who displayed a handgun during a meeting at the College of Education and Human Development Thursday, Oct. 7, was disarmed quickly and removed from campus. October 7, 2010

After the student pulled the weapon from her purse, faculty immediately took the gun and restrained her until University Police arrived on the scene.

University Police received the call at 1:46 p.m. and were on the scene two minutes later. The student was in custody at 1:53 p.m. The Belknap Campus community was notified by e-mail.

Officials said the UofL Alert system was not activated because the student immediately was disarmed and posed no threat to the campus community.
