Students 'glow' the extra mile for charity

At Saturday’s GoGlow! 5k walk/run, University of Louisville students will be wearing fluorescent colors to raiseRED. July 21, 2014

The annual GoGlow! event, which includes the walk/run as well as a live electronic music party afterward, will raise money this year for the UofL student-run charity raiseRED, an annual dance marathon that benefits pediatric cancer research. raiseRED will be the sole beneficiary of the charitable event, which is donating $5 from every $50 registration.

Last year raiseRED’s marathon attracted more than 700 participants and raised over $150,000 to benefit the UofL Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic.

“The GlowGo! and raiseRED partnership is seamless and successful because both events are high energy celebrations of life appropriate for our entire community to enjoy,” said raiseRED director Taylor Wilson.

The run will take place Saturday from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at Waterfront Park; a party featuring food trucks and live electronic music will follow until midnight.
