Tuition remission program changes proposed
Human Resources reminds faculty and staff participating in the tuition remission program that proposed changes have received preliminary approval from the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees and will go before the full board June 11 for final review. May 25, 2011HR suggests that faculty and staff use the proposed changes for planning purposes. Effective dates vary and are noted.
Employee Tuition Remission Changes
- Require employees to pay mandatory student fees bundled in tuition. Effective fall 2011
- Establish course performance standard of C or better or Pass on Pass/Fail. Effective fall 2011
- Continue to pay 100 percent of tuition for all graduate programs (except student fees).
- Continue to Pay 100 percent of tuition for distance ed courses (except student fees).
- Permit two courses up to 8 credit hours per semester (instead of 6 hours per semester); not to exceed 18 hours per year to allow flexibility for 4-hr courses. Effective July 1, 2011
- Codify practice for ROTC personnel to participate in employee tuition remission.
Dependent Tuition Remission Changes
- Require 12-mo waiting period for dependent eligibility for new hires. Effective July 1, 2011
- Require 5-yr waiting period for disability or death benefit for new hires. Effective July 1, 2011
- Require dependents to pay mandatory student fees bundled in tuition. Effective fall 2011
- Require dependents to pay any tuition differential for distance ed courses. Effective fall 2011
- Establish credit hour limit at 144 hours attempted, with 1-year transition period. Effective fall 2012
