UofL again named military friendly
NULL October 16, 2014LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville has been named a Military Friendly School for 2015 by Victory Media Inc., a publishing company formed to help military veterans move to the civilian workforce.
UofL has made the company’s list six years in a row. This year’s list identifies the top 20 percent of U.S. colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to recruit veterans and help them succeed as students.
The company said UofL helps veterans and their families find financial aid for education, works with them to ensure they receive full transfer credit when entering school and assists them when they need to withdraw from or resume classes due to deployment.
Veterans who attend UofL also are eligible for free job counseling and discounted child care.
Other UofL military-friendly programs include a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, exercise therapy classes for wounded soldiers and a suicide prevention program, all at Fort Knox; a Louisville class that teaches veterans how to start new businesses and an annual graduate scholarship for military spouses.
Victory Media was founded in 2001 by a nine-year U.S. Navy veteran. Its annual Military Friendly School list is published on G.I. Jobs magazine and online.
