UofL named Military Friendly School for 7th year
November 5, 2015UofL has been named a Military Friendly School for 2016, marking the seventh year in a row the university has earned the distinction.
Victory Media Inc., a publishing company formed to help military veterans move to the civilian workforce, on Nov. 5 announced the names of U.S. colleges that made the list. The designation is based on factors that include academic credibility, support on campus, admissions and orientation, graduation and retention rates, military student body composition and career outcomes. The publishing company said UofL helps veterans and their families make a smooth transition from military to student life, provides support to determine federal and state education benefits, advocates for maximum transfer credits and assists with withdrawals/readmissions due to deployment or active duty service. UofL also earned kudos for its free job counseling, discounted child care, online courses, career assistance and online learning programs. Military-focused programs at UofL include a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, exercise therapy classes for wounded soldiers and a suicide prevention program, all at Fort Knox; a Louisville class that teaches veterans how to start new businesses; and an annual graduate scholarship for military spouses. Victory Media was founded in 2001 by a nine-year U.S. Navy veteran. Its annual Military Friendly School list is published in G.I. Jobs magazine and online.Related News
