UofL planetarium to celebrate Astronomy Day
The Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville will mark May 18 – Astronomy Day – with programs that explore the mystery of space. April 14, 2013The family-friendly event runs 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is $5.
Events include viewing the sun through solar telescopes, activities for kids and a drawing for a Celestron telescope valued at $150. Three shows will be offered in the planetarium dome as follows:
- 1 p.m. - Perfect Little Planet
- 2 p.m. - Laser Beatles
- 3 p.m. - Oasis in Space
At 4 p.m. there will be a free, hourlong public presentation, “Meteorites: Messengers From Space.” Attendees can view a meteorite collection that was recently donated to the planetarium.
