UofL Pound for Pound Challenge participants to be featured on 'The Biggest Loser'

More than 200 UofL faculty and staff have pledged to lose 3,668 pounds to help feed hungry people in the United States. March 17, 2010

For every pound they lose, the Pound for Pound Challenge will give 14 cents - enough money to buy a pound of food - to Feeding America. Locally their efforts will benefit the Dare to Care food bank.

UofL's participation in the Pound for Pound Challenge will be the subject of a 1-minute segment on NBC's The Biggest Loser around April 6. A video crew was on campus March 17 shooting footage for it.

The crew taped interviews with Coach Mo, a Louisville resident and past participant on the TV show; Darrell Griffith, UofL director of advancement community relations; Seleila Booker, an administrative associate in the College of Education and an active Get Healthy Now participant; and Provost Shirley Willihnganz.

The crew also taped a Pound for Pound Challenge shout out from UofL participants and representatives of the Dare to Care food bank, a pep talks to the participants from Willihnganz, Griffith and Coach Mo.

UofL participants are getting help in their efforts to lose weight from Get Healthy Now, the university's faculty/staff health management program.
