UofL soccer team lands first Final Four berth

This has been a year of firsts for the UofL soccer team. Now they’ve achieved another one — their first berth ever in the NCAA College Cup Final Four. December 4, 2010

UofL continued its unprecedented season with a 5-4 win over eighth-ranked UCLA Saturday night at Cardinal Park. The top-ranked Cards’ Aaron Horton scored the winning goal with less than a minute to play.

UofL is now 19-0-3 for the season, the only unbeaten team in the country. The Cards have posted the first undefeated mark in school history. Along the way, UofL has secured its first number one ranking and earned its first conference championship. The Cards boast the longest unbeaten streak, 22 games, in Big East history.

UofL will play fourth-ranked North Carolina Friday, Dec. 10, in Santa Barbara, Calif. The winner will play either Michigan or Akron for the College Cup national championship Sunday, Dec. 12.
