UofL student athletes successful in both roles

Many people have heard about the championships won by University of Louisville student-athletes, but their success in the classroom has been just as impressive. June 16, 2014

This chart shows the athletic and academic results of each UofL team, including final standings in the conference, ranking in NCAA and national polls, APR (Academic Progress Rating) from the NCAA and overall GPA (Grade Point Average).

Nine UofL teams had perfect APR scores in 2012-13 including the football team, one of just two Division I gridiron squads in the United States with a perfect score of 1000. Two UofL teams—women’s golf and volleyball—sported overall GPAs above 3.5 while 19 of 23 teams (83 percent) had GPAs of 3.0 or higher.

Our student-athlete population never ceases to amaze me” said Senior Associate Athletic Director Marvin Mitchell.  “Each year they prove to be some of the most talented young people contending for and winning championships in their sports, while also excelling in their coursework and graduating at higher and higher rates each year.  It is an honor to work in such a success-driven environment.
