UofL summer movie series begins with ‘Monsters University’
Be afraid, but not too afraid. Some super scary monsters are heading to the University of Louisville May 30, but they’re only here to bring shrieks of laughter. May 12, 2014“Monsters University” will kick off the fifth season of the free Cards Under the Stars summer movie series at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall. The film begins at dusk, but bring your own little monsters early for activities including:
- Children’s inflatables and games
- Music performance by SonaBLAST! recording artist Heidi Howe
- Appearances by members of the Louisville League of Mascots
Holy Molé Taco Truck will also be onsite selling tacos and more.
Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and coolers to make for a comfortable evening.
“Monsters University” takes viewers on a trip back in time to when Monsters, Inc. employees Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) and James P. Sulley Sullivan (voice of John Goodman) were just two promising young scaring majors at Monsters University, dreaming of the day they would make children shriek in terror. When their heated competition to be the most fearsome in their class gets out of hand, the two find themselves ejected from the prestigious Scare Program. They are forced to seek the aid of their oddball friends in order to get their education back on track. The film is rated G.
Cards Under the Stars will continue Friday, June 20 with the sing-along version of the film “Frozen.” The series will conclude Friday, July 25 with “The Lego Movie.” The movie series is sponsored by UofL’s Great Places to Work Initiative and the Office of the President.
