West Virginia law firm opening Louisville office at ShelbyHurst

The University of Louisville and NTS Realty Holdings, through their joint venture Campus Two, have signed Steptoe & Johnson PLLC as a tenant at 700 North Hurstbourne in the ShelbyHurst Office and Research Park. September 24, 2013

Steptoe & Johnson has leased more than 10,500 sq. ft. on the first floor. It is the firm’s first Louisville office and second location in Kentucky, having previously opened an office in Lexington in 2009.  The 100 year old law firm is headquartered in Bridgeport, W. Va. and has more than 300 attorneys across 15 locations in the United States.

“We are very excited to become part of the Louisville community,” said Susan Brewer, CEO of Steptoe and Johnson. “It was important for us to select a location that would be appropriate for our firm’s culture, provide growth opportunities, and allow ease of access for our clients in this rapidly growing region. We feel the 700 North Hurstbourne location helps us fill all of those requirements.” 

The 125,000 square foot, four-story building is located at Hurstbourne Parkway and Porter Place, just north of Shelbyville Road. The new building’s environmentally sensitive design is expected to receive LEED certification for its energy and environmental efficiency.

“The addition of Steptoe & Johnson is another move forward for UofL as we turn the Shelby Campus, a valuable piece of property, into a funding source for our academic and research mission,” said UofL President James Ramsey.

Other tenants of 700 North include Steel Technologies, TEK Systems and AkzoNobel Coatings.

“We welcome Steptoe & Johnson to the building and to the Louisville market,” said NTS Vice President of Leasing & Brokerage, Lewis Borders.  “They are a premier law firm, and will be a good fit alongside our other corporate tenants at ShelbyHurst.” 

 

NTS is managing development, construction, leasing, operations and marketing of the new buildings. The UofL Foundation has a 51 percent stake in both buildings and NTS has a 49 percent share. When fully developed, the ShelbyHurst Office and Research Park is expected to have more than1.5 million square feet of space in multiple buildings.
