As the population ages, the need for professional caregivers to provide in-home services for ill and disabled patients is increasing. Patient homes may present more workplace challenges than other health care settings because they can harbor hazards such as tobacco smoke, cluttered hallways and rooms, inaccessible bathrooms, rodents and bugs.
