Red Barn to celebrate 45th anniversary

The University of Louisville will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the George J. Howe Red Barn with a reunion concert July 11. July 8, 2014

The event, featuring The Tymes Band, will be 8 p.m. at the Red Barn, Belknap Campus, next to the Swain Student Activities Center. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The drummer for The Tymes Band happens to be UofL Physical Plant employee Craig Lush.

The concert is open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door to offset show costs and to benefit UofL students through scholarships and other programs.

The Red Barn was established in 1969 by a group of UofL students and administrators. Formerly a part of the Caldwell Tanks Inc., the building was renovated in 1978 and has become a multi-purpose facility serving students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community. In 2007 the Red Barn was named for George J. Howe, the building’s longtime coordinator.

The Red Barn 45th Year Reunion Concert is sponsored by the Red Barn Alumni Association and the Arts and Sciences Ambassador Program.
