UofL, Texas A&M to team up for bowl service project

Before the Louisville Cardinals and the Texas A&M Aggies meet on the field at the Music City Bowl, their fans will set aside the rivalry and work together for a good cause.

Volunteers from the University of Louisville and Texas A&M University will work at Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville the morning of the Dec. 30 bowl game. Volunteers will assist with food sorting projects that address hunger for children, families and seniors in the Middle Tennessee region. In addition, thanks to the generosity of the UofL Bookstore, UofL will deliver more than 430 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution to those in need. Second Harvest Food Bank opened in 1978 to provide help and food for Middle Tennessee residents. Their mission and goal is to solve hunger issues in the community. In 2014, Second Harvest distributed more than 29 million pounds of food. UofL students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni are invited to sign up for the project. Work will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. Volunteers must sign up at http://louisville.edu/student/bowlservice no later than Dec. 28.
